In 1957, Gov. Orval Faubus ordered the National Guard to bar admission to nine black students seeking to enter Little Rock's all-white schools. Amidst political and social upheaval, a small band of courageous white ladies fought to integrate Arkansas' schools. When treats did not deter them, their enemies used guns and bombs.
