Leadership is key to saving the planet from the twin threats of climate change and environmental destruction. Extinction awaits the human species unless we change our leadership. It will need more than getting better individual leaders - we need to change the nature of leadership itself. This means we also have to change how we follow. We all need to be more challenging, more engaged and more active in how decisions are made. The world of work is one key place for us to practice these changes. We can get better at the skills of participative leadership and active followership if we practice them in the workplace then bring the skills into the wider world. We cannot rely on finding a hero-leader to save us from doom. We all need to read the writing on the wall - extinction is coming unless we act now.
