One of the most inspiring and interesting autobiographies that I have read in many a year. Grenfell's upper class English upbringing would seem an unlikely basis for his life's work among the struggling people of pre-Canada Labrador. The uplifting tenor and hope in his work and medical ministry had far reaching benefits for the extremely isolated folk in this sub-Artic region on Canada's Atlantic coast. His medical, sailing and people management skills were instrumental in many benefits he brought to his beloved patients and neighbours in a pre-WWI world with few of our modern advantages. A great read! (Amazon)
