The book includes author's personal experiences and reflections on the Cultural Revolution. The essence of the Cultural Revolution is that bypassing the resistance from bureaucrats at various levels, Mao Zedong made a sacred alliance of continuous revolution with the ordinary Chinese people. The alliance tried to attack the bureaucratic system from both top and bottom in order to stop the bureaucratization of the Chinese Communist regime. The Cultural Revolution failed due to the irreconcilable contradiction between its means and goal. The failure proves the irreversibility of bureaucratization under Soviet Model. The theory that it is the sole correct route to Communism should be reevaluated. A complete negation of the Cultural Revolution will lead China to an abyss of semi-feudalism and semi-colonialism.
