While growing up in Yonkers, NY, I heard many of the neighborhood children's family stories. For many years I asked my parents, "Where did we come from?" I got the same answer over and over again. "We were all born in New York City and we are Americans." It wasn't until 1995 when Mom sent some documents to me, that I knew where my grandparents were born. It was the day that the genealogy bug bit me.
Ever since then I have spent many hours at the local libraries, the Church of the Latter-Day Saints going through microfilm, online when records became available and writing letters to strangers. Some of those letters were answered. So, the need to meet these wonderful people and the island of Sicily took hold and my road trips began. This book is a chronicle of my travels to discover more about my Sicilian family.
